MyFJCruiser.org Partners with TreadLightly

MyFJCruiser.org has partnered with Tread Lightly!® to help promote appropriate land use. Established in 1985 by the US Forest Service, the Tread Lightly!® program was created to address concerns about land use impact from an ever increasing use base. In 1990, the program was transferred to the private sector as a non-political, non-profit to continue the mission of promoting responsible outdoor recreation.

What I value in this program is that it does not focus on allowing and promoting one user group with the exclusion of another. However, the organization does focus on mechanized users and their impact on the environment. The goal of Tread Lightly!® is for outdoor users to be stewards of the land we use though both restoration programs and education.

As mechanized users we need to recognize the impact that we can have on the lands we use. Through this understanding and stewardship we will be able limit our impact and maintain open access to the lands that we enjoy.

I highly recommend that you become a member of Tread Lightly!® and help spread the word.

Tomas has lived in Colorado since age 5. Having grown up on the Western Slope of Colorado lots of time was spent in the Desert Southwest. Tomas' father introduced him to the love of 4 wheeling at an early age in the high mountains around Aspen, Colorado. While an avid Mountain Biker, Tomas and his Family enjoy adventures in the mountains and desert in the remote locations that can only be reached by 4wd. Day hikes are always a must when on the family trips. While enjoying outdoor activities he wants to share his love as a certified 4wd trainer and ski instructor. Tomas also enjoys caving and cave exploration. Tomas currently resides in Colorado Springs.
