Body Lift installed

In anticipation of installing new wheels, tires and re-gearing I installed my Toytec Lifts 1 inch body lift this last week on my Toyota FJ Cruiser. By lifting the body I don’t have to worry about the larger tires contacting the body at full compression.  The other solution is to extend the bump stop which reduces the compression.

The installation took about 5 hours and no special tools. Using my new air tools sped things up some. The body lift kit includes Large 8 UHMW Polyurethane spacers and grade 8 hardware as well as a ½ inch spacer for the steering column.

All of the critical hoses and connections between the body and frame have plenty of extra length. The fan cowling must be trimmed to prevent contact between the fan and the coming once lifted.

I still need to dress up the areas that are now exposed on the body. Step one in the re-gearing project is now completed.

Tomas has lived in Colorado since age 5. Having grown up on the Western Slope of Colorado lots of time was spent in the Desert Southwest. Tomas' father introduced him to the love of 4 wheeling at an early age in the high mountains around Aspen, Colorado. While an avid Mountain Biker, Tomas and his Family enjoy adventures in the mountains and desert in the remote locations that can only be reached by 4wd. Day hikes are always a must when on the family trips. While enjoying outdoor activities he wants to share his love as a certified 4wd trainer and ski instructor. Tomas also enjoys caving and cave exploration. Tomas currently resides in Colorado Springs.
