As a part of my tire size change project I wanted to add fender flares to my Toyota FJ Cruiser. I went to Bushwacker to help with this part of the project.

Bushwacker has 2 models of flares available for the FJ Cruiser. The Pocket Style Flares and the Extend-A-Fender models.
I chose to go with the Extend-A-Fender model. I like to clean look of the flares. I have had these sitting in the basement for the last month waiting for a chance to get them installed and finally found the time. The basic installation takes only a few hours, however, with a Snorkel the installation is complicated with the front right flare needing to be cut to fit around the snorkel.
I took a very slow “cut and check” approach to getting the flare to fit around the snorkel which took me a few hours to accomplish. I am very pleased with the results and like the look of the clean install.
The Extend-A-Fender provides the following advantages.
- Eliminates the mud catch areas of the stock flare.
- Adds additional tire clearance.
- Extends the fender to prevent mud splatter from larger tires.
So far I am please with the look and look forward to giving the flares some off highway testing.

Did you have to do any modifications to the stock FJ as far as cutting any of the stock body molding in order for the flares to fit?
There is some cutting that needs to be done. The Bushwacker instruction are good and detailed.
Hi…
What did you do with the factory front right fender flare that you took off?
I damaged mine and am looking for a replacement. I seem to only be finding the bushwacker flares when I google.
I’d love to secure yours if you’re not using it anymore and it’s in good condition.
Please let me know… Thanks!
