Rear Mud Flaps added to My FJ

With the addition of Bushwacker fender flares the Toyota FJ Cruiser stock mud flaps are removed. On past trips the front of my trailer has gotten plastered with mud and with no flaps the problem is going to be even worse. I decided it was time to fab some rear mud flaps for the FJ Cruiser.

The materials I used are 1.5 in wide 1/8″ flat steel ad 12″ wide x 1/8″ polyurethane sheets.

The flaps are cut to be 13″ long. I was able to fabricate a bracket that uses the two existing bolts.

Installed the flaps are about 3″ behind the rear wheel and extend down about 10″.

With these installed there should be mush less mud and stones hitting the trailer.

Tomas has lived in Colorado since age 5. Having grown up on the Western Slope of Colorado lots of time was spent in the Desert Southwest. Tomas' father introduced him to the love of 4 wheeling at an early age in the high mountains around Aspen, Colorado. While an avid Mountain Biker, Tomas and his Family enjoy adventures in the mountains and desert in the remote locations that can only be reached by 4wd. Day hikes are always a must when on the family trips. While enjoying outdoor activities he wants to share his love as a certified 4wd trainer and ski instructor. Tomas also enjoys caving and cave exploration. Tomas currently resides in Colorado Springs.
