LiteSpots Rock Lights Reviewed and Installed

Yesterday I upgraded the LED rock lights that I use on my Toyota FJ Cruiser. The old lights were single LED lights house in an alloy housing. I had one light fail because of water getting it to the light. I approached Off Road Only  about trying out their rock lights called LiteSPOTs.

LiteSPOTs Under Chassis Kit

LiteSPOTs consist of surface mount LEDs on a PC board that is then housed in polyurethane resin. The light has a powerful magnet on the back side. The construction provides a water proof light that can be either hard mounted with the provided screw or attached to any metal surface with the magnet. What I like about the magnet is it is going to allow me to play with the location of the lights by easily moving them around. Once I decide on the final location I may use the screw to fix them to the FJ.

Installed in front wheel well

Off Road Only provides 6 lights, a switch and the required wiring in the under chassis kit. They also recommend the lights be located with one in the front center, behind each front tire, in front of each rear tire and one centered in the rear. This configuration will fully light the underside of the FJ.

Installed in front of rear tire

For my installation I have only mounted five lights with two in front of the front tires and the rear lights in the recommended locations.  After some testing I will most likely mount the front center light to a recessed location on the front skid plate.

The lights provide plenty of visibility under the FJ to assist spotters with nighttime activities. With the molded construction these lights look to be bombproof and should never have a problem with water or mud.
