Mickey Thompson Sidebiter Wheels

New rolling stock for my Toyota FJ Cruiser. The man in brown dropped off my new Mickey Thompson Sidebiter wheels yesterday. These wheels are a part of  the re-gear and tire project for my FJ Cruiser.

The numbers:

  • Weight – 28.5 LB on my postage scale
  • 5″ Back Spacing
  • 17″ x 9″ Width

The stock FJ wheels are 7.5″ with 4.5″ back spacing. The rim will be moved 1/2″ closer to the  spindle. However, with the additional 1.5″ of rim width the tire clearance should be great. The new tires will be 11.8″ wide with the stock being 10.5 so there should be no problems.

The black finish has a wonderful high-gloss. There is a note in the box that the wheels need to be kept clean and that  road salt can damage the finish.

The design of the wheel puts the valve stem recessed where it will no be damaged while off road.

I can’t wait to get them mounted on the FJ.

Tomas has lived in Colorado since age 5. Having grown up on the Western Slope of Colorado lots of time was spent in the Desert Southwest. Tomas' father introduced him to the love of 4 wheeling at an early age in the high mountains around Aspen, Colorado. While an avid Mountain Biker, Tomas and his Family enjoy adventures in the mountains and desert in the remote locations that can only be reached by 4wd. Day hikes are always a must when on the family trips. While enjoying outdoor activities he wants to share his love as a certified 4wd trainer and ski instructor. Tomas also enjoys caving and cave exploration. Tomas currently resides in Colorado Springs.
