Safari Snorkel Installed

This morning I installed my new Safari Snorkel on our 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser. ARB does not spec the snorkel for the 2010 but the SS415HF Snorkel can be made to fit.

To get the Snorkel to work on the 2010 there are a few different steps that must be taken.  First remove the Air Box from the FJ. Once removed the fender fitting must be removed from the box.

The centering tab needs to then be removed from the air box so the rubber tube fits tight.

The snap tabs will help the rubber snorkel tube stay in place.

The rubber tube can now be fitted to the air box. A larger hose clamp will be needed to clamp the tube in place. The angle in the tube needs to point up. The fitting on the air box is larger than the 2009 fitting so the tube needs some effort to stretch it over the 2010 air box.

The installation went very smooth. I recommend that replacement screw inserts be used for the fender liner. These inserts are easiest to remove if the heads are just cut off.

Tomas has lived in Colorado since age 5. Having grown up on the Western Slope of Colorado lots of time was spent in the Desert Southwest. Tomas' father introduced him to the love of 4 wheeling at an early age in the high mountains around Aspen, Colorado. While an avid Mountain Biker, Tomas and his Family enjoy adventures in the mountains and desert in the remote locations that can only be reached by 4wd. Day hikes are always a must when on the family trips. While enjoying outdoor activities he wants to share his love as a certified 4wd trainer and ski instructor. Tomas also enjoys caving and cave exploration. Tomas currently resides in Colorado Springs.
