LED Utility Lights

One of the things that I missed having on the Blue Burro, our first Toyota FJ Cruiser build was external utility lights. To rectify this I ordered a batch of 8 LED 18 watt utility lights from a company in China to test.  The lights are contained in an Aluminum housing that is designed to help cool the lamps and consist of 6 3 watt LEDs.

The system is setup so there are 2 lamps used as backup lights and one lamp the left and right sides of the FJ. The lights are all uniquely controlled from switches in the cab of the FJ.

The lamps are mounted to the rack and the wiring is routed through one of the 2 wiring ports that I have installed on the roof.

The intensity of the lamps is fantastic and is going to provide plenty of light for backing the trailer or setting camp.

I’ll report later on the durability of the lamps.

Tomas has lived in Colorado since age 5. Having grown up on the Western Slope of Colorado lots of time was spent in the Desert Southwest. Tomas' father introduced him to the love of 4 wheeling at an early age in the high mountains around Aspen, Colorado. While an avid Mountain Biker, Tomas and his Family enjoy adventures in the mountains and desert in the remote locations that can only be reached by 4wd. Day hikes are always a must when on the family trips. While enjoying outdoor activities he wants to share his love as a certified 4wd trainer and ski instructor. Tomas also enjoys caving and cave exploration. Tomas currently resides in Colorado Springs.
