The design of my auxiliary power system includes both a switched circuit and an always on circuit. In this post I discuss the switched portion of the system. The master switch is used to control all accessories that can be switched. This includes the ARC switch system as well as other miscellaneous items such as flashlight chargers.

The switched portion of the system is controlled by a master switch that is mounted in the dash of the Toyota FJ Cruiser. The master switch controls a blue sea solenoid (9012)  that is mounted in the engine compartment. I chose the Blue Sea solenoid because its holding draw is .13 amps. A normal solenoid will draw 3 or more holding amps.Using the solenoid allows the switched portion of the system to be much higher amperage than the switch can handle.

The system is then connected to number of fused distribution points in the FJ.
