Jeep Recovery

While of taking pictures of out Toyota FJ Cruiser, the White Knight, above Colorado Springs this last weekend I had the opportunity to help a fellow traveler get back on the road. A couple in a 2 wheel drive jeep had attempted to turn around by pulling down hill off a jeep road. The Jeep was high centered and point directly down hill.

For the recovery I could have used a strap but I would have had to drag them sideways and who knows what would have happened. I chose instead to employ the winch using a pulley block to redirect the which line and pull then straight back onto the road.

The recovery used the winch, a tree strap, one pulley block and 2 shackles. The jeep had a class the tow hitch installed that I used as the recovery point.

All said the recovery took about 30 minutes after which I sent a happy couple on their way.

Tomas has lived in Colorado since age 5. Having grown up on the Western Slope of Colorado lots of time was spent in the Desert Southwest. Tomas' father introduced him to the love of 4 wheeling at an early age in the high mountains around Aspen, Colorado. While an avid Mountain Biker, Tomas and his Family enjoy adventures in the mountains and desert in the remote locations that can only be reached by 4wd. Day hikes are always a must when on the family trips. While enjoying outdoor activities he wants to share his love as a certified 4wd trainer and ski instructor. Tomas also enjoys caving and cave exploration. Tomas currently resides in Colorado Springs.
