Moab Fall 2010 – Behind Arches – Day 2

After a pleasant night in the Salt Vally it was time to get out of the warm bag and get moving. I started the day with an easy breakfast of hot cereal and tea.

Ready to roll

Our camp was along a jeep trail that appears to head towards the back side of arches near Eagle Park. With all my gear packed it was time to explore a little. Triss and I headed up the trail in our Toyota FJ Cruiser. The trail followed a small wash and took us up and over some easy sandstone climbs. We stopped at what I thought was the end of the trail.

Eagle Park

With our hiking gear on it was time to explore a little. Heading south towards Arches we discovered the the road did continue but we must have missed a turn. Needed to take Triss on a long walk we headed up the trail towards Arches.

The road lead right to the border of Arches near Eagle Park.  On our next Moab trip we are going to drive the road to the top, setup camp and explore Eagle Park.

Once back to the car we headed south on the Salt Valley road. To make the drive a little more interesting we then took the 4wd road south to the Willow SPrings Road and exited Arches.

Once in Moab I checked on the weather and with a large weather system moving in I decided it was time to head home to Colorado Springs.
