M416 Fresh Water Tanks

For some time I have been planning on mounting water tanks under the bed of our M416 trailer.  The idea was to be able to carry more water and to have the weight down low to help keep the trailer from tipping.

Tank Saddles

I ordered two 15 gallon tanks off the Internet as a starting point for this project. Initially I was planning on fabricating my own mounting straps but in the end I decided to have Rockware fabricate tank saddles for me. Right choice!!!

Tanks Mounted

Using sheet aluminumRockware delivered to easy to mount light weight saddles. The tanks were a snap to get mounted. Once installed I moved onto plumbing the system.

Full System

I choice to use a small electric RV pump mounted in a small water proof case on the fender. This is powered by an auxiliary battery mounted on the same side of the trailer. The battery is over sized for the pump but when the trailer is wired to the truck the battery will help with the accessory load in the truck when parked.

Plumbing

I used reinforced vinyl tubing for the water pipes which I hope will hold up well on the under side of the trailer. Completed, the system deliverers a steady stream of water at a decent pressure. Maybe I’ll have to add a shower down the road.
