FJ 40 Build – The Project Begins

We have now jumped in head first on an FJ 40 build project.

FJ 40 tear down beginning

Redline Land Cruisers will be helping with much of this project. This is going to be a frame off build with the following elements:

  • Modified suspension will add an extra 11 inches to the wheel base and 3 inches in width. The suspension mods will also include about 4 inches of lift.
  • Re-geared with Nitro gears
  • ARB lockers front and rear.
  • VIAIR  compressor and air tank
  • Full over sized disk brakes
  • Mickey Thompson 35″ MTZ tires with 17″ MTZ rims
  • TBI V8 power plant.
  • 4 row radiator.
  • 5 speed NV4500 manual transmission.
  • Short shifter.
  • Stock 4 speed FJ40 transfer case.
  • Disk parking brake.
  • Body will be reworked and painted fire engine red
  • Full roll cage
  • Bucket seats with 4 point harness
  • New wiring harnesses
  • Long range fuel tank
  • Thinking of cutting off the original dash and installing a 63 dash.
  • Soft Top and hard tops will be used for the builds
  • Lighting will be reworked with LED used for all running lights and tail lights.
  • Thinking of installing HID headlights.
  • Custom Winch bumper
  • Winch
  • Auxiliary battery and supporting systems
  • Custom rear bumper with swing outs.

    Looks like a nice start, plan on spending twice what you thought it would cost.(after looking @ your FJ build, I’m sure you already know this!) good luck & keep the shiny side up!(:D)
