If I remember right, I was around 10 years old when I got my first real pair of hiking boots. Like all others boots of the time, they were made in Italy  using a standard stitched welt to connect the upper to soles. This standard construction was very durable and easy for a boot maker to maintain.  Over time boot construction was moved to countries where it has been to taught as a task rather than an art. To help keep cost down and speed construction the boot is upper is completed then the sole is glued on.

Zamberlan still builds its boot in Italy and this holds true for the Tofane. What first attracted me to the Zamberlan Tofane, one model in the new line of boots, was the traditional welt. Even with the high cost I had to have a pair. Finally almost a year later I now have my Tafane boots

If boots could be considered art then the Zamberlan Tofane would be it. The traditional  Italian craftsmanship is apparent  and the Norwegian welt construction is gorgeous  and will allow these boots to last a lifetime ensuring maximum durability.

The boots incorporate new technologies with the old by including a gortex membrane liner and rather than a steel, a modern polypropylene shank.

The Tofane also includes rubber toe cap that will extend the wear of these boots by protecting the toe.

The leather on the Tofane is a beautiful waxed finish.

The boots feel great right out of the box and I expect they will feel the same way after a good days hike and in the years to come.
