DaToy Gets a New Vortex Prefilter

I installed my Toyota FJ Cruiser Vortex Prefilter for the Air Intake today. The part cost $100.00 and took about 10 minutes to install. For people that drive the FJ Cruiser off-road this is a simple yet recommended modification for 2007 FJ’s. The prefilter is an option in the 2008-2009 model years. The filter uses a louvers to cause the air to spine as it enters the intake.( 2008 FJ Air Intake Precleaner ) This causes junk that is in the air to fall out and be expelled.

The installation requires that the intake box be removed:

To do so remove the 2 bolts holding it and then undo the clamp holding the intake.

Once the intake box is removed the vortex prefilter can be installed.

– Slip the end with the foam ring on it into the hole in the fender.

– Line up the bolt hols and replace the bolts.

– Attache the intake and tighten the clamp.

That’s it. An easy upgrade that all off-road FJ’s should get.
