Overhead Switch Pod Installed

As part of my electrical rebuild I needed to find a place to install a  large number of switches. I chose to install them in the ceiling panel of the FJ Cruiser. To do so I utilized Daystar switch panel designed for a jeep application. Here is an earlier post on the parts I used: fj-electrical-system.

I built a harness for the switches that will connect to either the fuse panel or another harness that will extend to the engine compartment. I am making the harness modular so it does not have to be cut to remove parts of the FJ for other projects. I also am using colored wires so I can keep track of the different circuits.

The switches will be used for the following applications:

– Auxiliary power system Master Switch
– Backup / Rear Work lights
– Rock Lights
– Off Road lights
– Rear Fog Lights
– Computer
– APRS (HAM Application)
– DRL Disable

Once I had the switches ready to go it was time to pull the head liner down and add the modules:

Here are the switch modules in the cut outs.

With the mounting plate installed

Wire harnesses running down the passenger side A-Pillar.

Completed install from the drivers seat.

Tomas' father introduced him to the love of 4 wheeling at an early age in the high mountains around Aspen, Colorado. While an avid Mountain Biker, Tomas and his Family enjoy adventures in the mountains and desert in the remote locations that can only be reached by 4wd. Day hikes are always a must when on the family trips. While enjoying outdoor activities he wants to share his love as a certified 4wd trainer and ski instructor. Tomas also enjoys caving and cave exploration. Tomas currently resides in Colorado Springs.
