May Adventure Trip – Day 1

My daughter and I spent the last week of May exploring some of the back roads around Moab and the Kokopelli trail. Initially when we set out our goal was to complete part of the Kokopelli trail, drop over to Gateway on the Doloris then head into the Dolores Triangle. Well, the best laid plans do not work out some times.  These posts are the journal of this trip.

Day one of our trip took us to Rabbit Valley and the point where 4x4s can access the Kokopelli trail.

Our goal on this first day after the long drive from Colorado Springs was to locate a nice campsite. We had just missed all the Memorial Day crowds so finding a site was not difficult. We ended up at some wonderful campsites that overlook the Colorado River.

View Up The Colorado River

These sites have a pit toilet, fire pits and tables. The view up the Colorado was spectacular and we got to see the California Zephyr go by on the tracks by the river.

With the long days it was late to bed after calling mom to say goodnight.

tomas

Tomas has lived in Colorado since age 5. Having grown up on the Western Slope of Colorado lots of time was spent in the Desert Southwest. Tomas' father introduced him to the love of 4 wheeling at an early age in the high mountains around Aspen, Colorado. While an avid Mountain Biker, Tomas and his Family enjoy adventures in the mountains and desert in the remote locations that can only be reached by 4wd. Day hikes are always a must when on the family trips. While enjoying outdoor activities he wants to share his love as a certified 4wd trainer and ski instructor. Tomas also enjoys caving and cave exploration. Tomas currently resides in Colorado Springs.
