Pett Toilet System

For our trip into the Maze this year we needed to utilize a human waste management system. After some investigation and research I decided on the Pett Toilet. What I like about this system is that each member of the party deals with their own waste using Wag Bag. I purchase the Wag Bags by the 100 count which brings the coast way down. This system is also good for home emergency preparedness.

With a little instruction my 12 year old daughter has no problems using this system. The key is that once you have used a bag you need to remove all the air so it is compact for trash storage. I recommend a ammunition can dedicated to used wag bags. When you return to civilization WAG BAGS are approved for disposal as normal trash.

We also added the ThePUP™ Privacy Shelter. In desert environments there is not always a natural shelter to set the toilet up in. The shelter can also be used for showers.

I carry 1 bag for each team member per day plus 1 extra a day. You will need to tailor your count to your groups specific needs.

Portable toilets are lifesavers, however the wag bag requires that you carry a toilet around with you. This can be cumbersome and it does not lay flat most times in the outdoors. There is a product called the Biffy Bag that can be used on its own without carrying extra equipment and it comes in a neat little package. check them out I prefer them 1,000,000 to 1 over wag bag.

The wag bag can be laid open on the ground. The toilet just makes it lots easier. From what I can tell, wags bags also do not cost as much.
