Spring Trip 2009 Planning

I have been working on planning our 2009 Spring Adventure trip. We have spent lots of time in southeast Utah so this time we are moving a little west to Grand Staircase Escalante. We are planning on 10 full days of travel with hiking and site seeing.

I don’t know if you have ever tried to shop for groceries in one of the small towns in Utah…. On one trip we stopped in Hanksville to get a few needed items. Mistake! The shelves were almost bare. Lesson learned.  Bring it all along.

So here I am planning our next adventure. Gear lists, menus, shopping lists. When will the vacation begin?

I We will be traveling a route starting at Bull Frog, across the Burr Trail, over to Smoky Mountain and south the Vermilion Cliffs.

We will be trying out a new tent for this trip that we purchased from Cabalas. I hope that it works… Trusting new gear when going out for an extended period of time can be a mistake. However, this tent is supposed to be expedition quality and able to hold up in high winds.

All the other gear we are using is tried and true so I hope there are no surprises.

Tomas has lived in Colorado since age 5. Having grown up on the Western Slope of Colorado lots of time was spent in the Desert Southwest. Tomas' father introduced him to the love of 4 wheeling at an early age in the high mountains around Aspen, Colorado. While an avid Mountain Biker, Tomas and his Family enjoy adventures in the mountains and desert in the remote locations that can only be reached by 4wd. Day hikes are always a must when on the family trips. While enjoying outdoor activities he wants to share his love as a certified 4wd trainer and ski instructor. Tomas also enjoys caving and cave exploration. Tomas currently resides in Colorado Springs.
