APO3 – Automated Power Off for Aux systems

If you want to have controlled shutdown or power off of electronic after you FJ is turned off the APO3 is the solution. The Automatic Power Off from APRS World allows you to control when the power to the electronics is shut down. The system was designed for HAM operators running APRS (automated position reporting system) so the system could send one last report after the operators car was shutdown.

APO3 (revision b)

“The APO3 is a black box designed to prevent a vehicle battery from being discharged and damaged by a DC load. Typically it is used to switch a radio transceiver off 10 minutes after the vehicle is shut off.

The APO3 is designed for 12 volt vehicle electrical systems with negative ground. It can switch up to 20 amps and carry up to 30 amps. The shutdown voltage can be set to one of four pre-programmed voltages (11.8, 12.1, 12.7, 13.05 volts) using two DIP switches; the shutdown delay can be set to one of four pre-programmed times (0, 5, 10, 20 minutes). The device is housed in a sturdy ABS plastic case.”

Prior to the installation of my auxiliary battery system I used this device to control a master relay that would shut down my auxiliary systems after I shut my FJ down. I was running a laptop as my computer and it would keep running until the battery was dead. ( My new computer system has an intelligent power supply)

For $60.00 this component is well worth the price to keep auxiliary systems from depleting your primary battery.
