FJ40 Build Project September 2012 Update

So, we are finally moving forward on the Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser project. I have the body off the old frame. The drive looks a bit like a junk yard right now. I’ll be fixing this with a trip to the scrap yard and once I sell some of the parts that I will not be using.

The body is waiting to be placed on the new (1965) frame with the updated suspension.

The frame is at Redline Cruisers who is reworking the suspension. I just dropped off ARB Lockers and Nitro gears and shafts for the rebuilt FJ60 axles that are being installed. The photo shows the front axle with the outboard springs mounts in place to accommodate the wider FJ60 axle.

Once the frame is ready I will tow it home so I can mount the body and start the body refurb portion of the build.

I’ll keep you posted as the project progresses.

Tomas has lived in Colorado since age 5. Having grown up on the Western Slope of Colorado lots of time was spent in the Desert Southwest. Tomas' father introduced him to the love of 4 wheeling at an early age in the high mountains around Aspen, Colorado. While an avid Mountain Biker, Tomas and his Family enjoy adventures in the mountains and desert in the remote locations that can only be reached by 4wd. Day hikes are always a must when on the family trips. While enjoying outdoor activities he wants to share his love as a certified 4wd trainer and ski instructor. Tomas also enjoys caving and cave exploration. Tomas currently resides in Colorado Springs.
