When ever we find ourselves traveling through the San Louis Valley we try to make a stop at Joyful Journey Hot Springs. A number of years ago Joyful Journey rose from an long abandoned spa and grew into what is today a delightful little hot springs resort.
There are 3 pools that each can accommodate 10 – 15 people. The pools range in temperature from 98 – 108. The hot pool is truly hot and is great for a good soak. When our daughter was younger she found the cooled pools to be very comfortable. The facility is kept clean and the staff are very friendly.
The resort now has accommodates that include; camping, tepees, yurts, and the latest addition of a small hotel.
One of our more memorable experiences was one of our first trips in or Blue FJ cruiser. When we arrived at the hot springs the temperature was about 25 degrees below zero. The hot water was a delightful contrast to the bitterly cold outside air.
The hot spring is located near the intersection of US 285 and Highway 17.
