There are a number of hot springs near Buena Vista Colorado. One that we have spent some time at is on the road to Tincup Pass. Mount Princeton Hot Springs is located right on the banks of Chalk Creek. Mount Princeton offers full resort amenities, however, we have only taken advantage of the hot springs.
Mount Princeton Hot Spring
The springs consist of a lap pool, a large soaking pool. After the spring run off is over there are stairs to access the creek. All along the creek bank there are hot springs seeping into the water. Along the sandy back there are a number of rock pools that can be reshaped. Kids love these pools and will spend hours playing with racks and water to build pools and redirect the creek water to either cool or heat to small pools.
We have stopped here a number of times on trips heading over Tincup. One of the trips was our 9 in 2009 adventure.
The facilities are showing signs of wear but there are showers and lockers available. If you are headed over Tincup pass I recommend a stop at Mount Princeton. On multi-day trips this is a great place to get cleaned up.
