Alcan Claims My Windshield

I had always heard stories that a trip on the Alcan would cost a windscreen. I made it through 7000 miles of our Alaskan trip with not a single chip. I made it through the Dempster and the Dalton with no problems.

The chip

It was on the return trip on the Alcan that my luck finally ran out. With a semi coming the other direction I got a rock in the windscreen that send shock waves through the cab. Thankfully it was in front of the passenger seat and not the driver so I was able to continue home.

Ready for the replacement

A few weeks ago I finally got around to making a call to Safelite Auto Glass and called them out for a replacement. With farmers insurance the replacement cost was only $100.00.
